You just got your Milos? Congrats, and welcome to the family!
Milo is designed to be used immediately out of the box. But if you have a few minutes before heading out on your adventure, we recommend first doing the following:
- First, power up 1 Milo
- Press-and-hold the small round power button on the back of Milo
- Milo greets you and steps you through a brief interactive tutorial where you learn about the main features. Take 2 minutes to go through this tutorial.
- The last step of the tutorial tells you the default name and lets you record your own name, if you want. Just listen to and follow the instructions.
- Now power up all remaining Milos
- Each Milo will start playing the tutorial. Since you just heard it, you might want to skip it: Wait for Milo to say “To skip…”, then click the power button once to skip ahead to the name recording.
- If you don’t want to rename all Milos right now, click the power button once. This keeps the default names.
- Check the battery charge on all Milos
- You should have plenty of battery charge on all Milos, but it’s better to find out now and top up if needed, using the included USB-C power cable
- After Milo has started up and is idle, click the power button once again. Milo will tell you the approximate battery charge.
- Check that all Milos are running the same and the most recent software
- For this you need to download the Milo Link mobile app. Look for “Milo Link” on the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. The app is free, of course.
- After it’s installed, open Milo Link and follow the easy instructions to connect all your Milos to the app.
- Once paired, Milo Link will tell you if there is a newer update. If so, allow the update, accepting any permission pop-ups you see.
- We strongly encourage you to download and install the latest Milo software before using Milo. Each version adds new features and includes bug fixes.
- Note that you will need WiFi and Bluetooth for this step.
- If you are unable to update immediately due to WiFi access, you need to at least verify that all Milos are running on the same software version. If not, some features will not work.
- Some features need to be enabled in Milo Link before they can be used.
- (Optional) Check the customizable settings in Milo Link if you want to change something, such as the language Milo speaks.
- Now, group your Milos by holding the side group button simultaneously on units you want to group.
- Be aware that Proximity Mute is in effect, so you won’t hear voices of others through your Milo until you move further apart.
- Snap Milo into the enclosed Action Clip (or any other Milo clip you have), attach the Milo and clip to your clothing, as high up as possible, and close to your mouth.
- Secure the lanyard to your clothing for increased security.
Enjoy your Milo adventures!
